update re Lowell from Betsy

Hi everyone...Lowell asked me to add a "blog log" (is that a word?) He is about 50 (+ or -) miles west of Walla Walla, Washington. He has hooked up with Justin (24 and awsome on the uphills and fearless on the down). They have been together since Idaho and are very compatible riders. Lowell says the biggest of the mountains are behind them and he is..so far..feeling great. They have been camping mostly and much of the time in city parks, very unequiped for email. Lowell's cell phone was "taken" from a public bathroom where he had left it to charge therefore he is totally out of touch..hmmmm. He and Justin have found that people are very generous and they have met with some very nice accommondations and very great hosts along the way. He is happy and well, and I imagine very fit, and sends his love to all. He continues to log his adventures and will update us all when he can get to a computer. Ahhh..a true adventure..life without technology. Betsy

  • Lowell - maybe you could pick up a track phone. The Stridsberg family is out west in an air conditioned 12 passenger van! The temperatures here are breaking 100 degrees. We've already been to many places in just two days including Challenger Space Center, the Apache Trail (dinner at Tortilla Flats), Colossal Cave, and we drove up Mt. Lemmon - having delicious pizza at a restaurant 9,000 feet up in Summerhaven where it was cool and there were ponderosa pines. Nice to know that not far above the desert there is a place to escape to. Thought of you when we saw two different guys on bicycles heading up Mt. Lemmon. This morning we're in Douglas, AZ and are going to walk over the border to Mexico before heading for Bisbee and the 2pm gunfight at the OK Corral in Tombstone! A real vacation! But yes, I couldn't resist internet access when told it was in the motel lobby!

  • Lowell,

Bob says you should call your cell phone and tell the people that answer it to give you back the phone! Isn't he a helpful guy to have around! Glad Betsy put an update on I was wondering if you were alright! Glad things are going well and you are still rolling along!

  • Hi Lowell, It sounds like you are having a blast. The mountains and scenery must be even better on a bike, but the trucks don't sound so good. Hope you can find some other routes to avoid them. Have fun, stay safe. ----- d and the soon to be retired J.
